1738 - James Manning, born on the 22nd of October in Providence, Rhode Island. He was an American Baptist minister and educator.

1762 - He graduated from the College of New Jersey, which later became Princeton University.

1765 - 1791 - He was one of the founders of the College of Rhode Island (now Brown University) and served as its first president.

1786 - He was also a delegate for Rhode Island to the Continental Congress.

1791 - Died on the 29th of July.
