Madden, Samuel
1686 - Samuel Madden was born in Dublin. Irish author and philanthropist.
- He moved to Newtownbutler, County Fermanagh, as a clergyman.
1729 - His tragedy, Themistocles, was produced in London and was very successful.
1731 - With Thomas Prior he founded the Dublin Society and as well as contributing to this he began a scheme to give financial assistance to students at Trinity College, Dublin. For this he became known as 'Premium' Madden.
1733 - Wrote Memoirs Of the Twentieth Century.
1738 - He published Reflections and Resolutions Proper for the Gentlemen of Ireland, as to their Conduct for the Service of their Country.
1765 - He died on December 31st at the age of 79.
