McGillicuddy, Cornelius Alexander
1862 - Born on December 22nd in East Brookfield, Massachusetts. Connie Mack was once a catcher, but made his mark as a manager.
1886-1889 - He was once a catcher for the Washington Nationals.
1890 - The catcher of Buffalo Bisons.
1891 - The catcher of Pittsburgh Pirates.
1894 - He managed the Pittsburgh Pirates.
1901 - After a stint at the helm of Pittsburgh, he managed and assumed control of the Philadelphia Athletics which continued for 50 years until his retirement at the age of 88.
1910 - "The Tall Tactician," best remembered as a dignified, scorecard-waving leader in a business suit, won five World Series crowns and built two dynasties - with four pennants in five years.
1937 - Inducted on the Baseball Hall of Fame.
- Elected to Hall of Fame by Veterans Committee.
1956 - He died on February 8th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
