1981 - John Philip Walker Lindh, born on the 9th of February in Washington DC. He is an American citizen who was captured during the invasion of Afghanistan while fighting there for the Taliban.
2001 - He was captured in Afghanistan in November, calling himself Abdul Hamid and fighting on the side of the Taliban against U.S. forces.
- His own story was that he had been studying the Arabic language and the Koran in Yemen and Pakistan, and that in May, he made his way to Afghanistan and fell in with Osama Bin Laden's al-Queda terrorist network.
2002 - In January, He was returned to the U.S. and charged with conspiring to kill U.S. citizens abroad (specifically, U.S. soldiers).
