Lehar, Franz
1870 - Born on April 30th in Komárom, Austria-Hungary (now Komárno, Slovakia). Hungarian composer of operettas who achieved worldwide success with Die lustige Witwe (The Merry Widow).
1890 - He studied at the Prague Conservatory. Encouraged by Antonín Dvorák to follow a musical career, Lehár traveled in Austria as a bandmaster.
1896 - He produced his operetta Kukuschka.
1947 - He conducted the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra.
1948 - Died on October 24th in Bad Ischl, Austria.
