1890 - Laurel was born in Ulverston, England on the 16th of June.

 

1906 - He had his first professional performance on stage at the age of sixteen.

 

1910 - Laurel joined the group of Fred Karno's troupe of actors.

 

1916-1918 - He was able to tour America together with Alice and Baldwin Cooke.

 

1919 - He teamed up with Mae Dahlberg and they were performing at the fee of $75 a week in a two-reel comedies.

 

1924 - He signed a contract under Joe Rock to make  twelve two-reel comedies.

 

1926 - He married Lois Nielson and joine the Hal Roach Studio.

 

1927 - Resumed his acting career with Oliver Hardy.

 

1931 - Together with Hardy, they made their first full length movie titled Pardon Us.

 

1935 - He married his second wife, Virginia Ruth Rogers.

 

1938 - After divorcing Rogers, he married Vera Ivanova Shuvalova.

 

1939 - Laurel and Hardy signed a contract at 20th Century Fox to make nine motion picture movies for five months.

 

1952-1953 - Laurel and his partner Hardy went to Europe for a tour. Their tour was successful and they toured Europe the next year.

 

1954 - His partner, Hardy had a heart attack and the tour was cancelled.

 

1955 - Stan suffered a half-body stroke and were unable to do the television series, The Fable of Laurel and Hardy.

 

1956 - Hardy suffered a massive stroke on the 15th of September, was paralyzed and stayed in bed for several months unable to speak or move.

 

1957 - Stan had to endure the lost of Hardy on the 7th of August. He didn't attend the funeral. This incident affected Stan and decided he would never act again without his long-time friend.

 

1961 - He won a Lifetime Achievement Academy Award for his pioneering work in the field of comedy.

 

1965 - He died on the 23rd of February due to a heart attack.
