1913 – She was born Hedwig Eva Maria Kiesler on the 9th day of November this year in Vienna, Austria.

 

1933 - She had already appeared in several European films, including Ecstasy, in which she played a love-hungry young wife of an indifferent old husband. She married Fritz Mandl and divorced him in 1937.

 

1938 - In Hollywood, she appeared in many films, usually cast as glamorous and seductive, including Algiers , White Cargo, and Tortilla Flat both in 1942.

 

1939 – She married gene Markey and the relationship lasted for just two years.

 

1941 – She was cast alongside two other Hollywood beauties Lana Turner and Judy Garland in a musical extravaganza Ziegfeld Girl.

 

1942 – She was briefly engaged to the actor George Montgomery.

 

1949 – She starred in the movie “Samson and Delilah”, which became her biggest success.

 

1953 – She became a naturalized citizen of the United States on the 10th of April this year.

 

1963 – She married her sixth husband named Lewis J. Boies and got separated with him in 1964.

 

1965 – She made headlines for being arrested for shoplifting; charges were eventually dropped. This situation played out again in 1991.

 

2000 – She died on the 19th day of January this year in Orlando, Florida.

 

2003 – The Boeing Corporation ran a series of recruitment ads featuring her as a woman of science. No reference to her film career was made in the ads.
