1885 - Born on May 14th in Breslau, Silesia, Germany. A prominent German conductor and composer.

1906 - Otto Klemperer made his debut with a presentation of Orphée aux enfers by Offenbach.

1910 - He was nominated director of music of the City Theatre in Hamburg, again at Mahler's instigation.

1919 - Married to Jennie Gaissler.

1923 - He then went to Cologne and became chief musical director.

1933 - The conductor of Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra.

1937 - Became a naturalized American citizen.

1939 - Had a brain tumor removed, which exacerbated his bipolar disorder.

1947 - Was nominated musical director of the Budapest Opera.

1973 - Died on July 6th in Zurich, Switzerland.
