1927 - Daniel Keyes was born in Brooklyn, New York.
1960 - Flowers for Algernon was first published as a magazine story and won a Hugo for best science novellete.
- It went on to win the Nebula Award for best science fiction novel, an award winning television drama and won an Oscar for Cliff Robertson as Best Actor in the feature film adaptation, Charly.
- Mr. Keyes has taught high school English and is the author of The Touch and The Mind of Billy Milligan.
1966 - He joined the faculty of Ohio University, was appointed Professor of English and Creative Writing, and is currently on extended leave.
1988 - Brooklyn College awarded Keyes "Distinguished Alumnus Medal of Honor".
2000 - His most recent book, Algernon, Charlie and I: A Writer's Journey was published in February in concert with the completion of a new made for television feature film entitled Flowers for Algernon.
