1941 – He was born on the 30th day of August this year in Taboro, North Carolina.


1964 – Upon receiving his high school diploma, Jones enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, receiving his bachelor’s degree in this year.


1975 – He played a federal agent after Uncle Jesse and the boys in Moon runners this year, the film that was developed in to The Dukes of Hazard.


1979 – He is known as Cooter Davenport on the successful television series The Dukes of Hazard, in which he participated for the entire series run this year until 1985.


1986 – He unsuccessfully ran for a seat in the United States House of Representatives from Georgia.


1988 – He ran again this year, this time winning a House seat from Georgia.


1990 – He was re-elected, but he was defeated in 1992.


1998 – He broke away from most Democrats by asking President Bill Clinton to resign during his trial and impeachment. He is still active in the Democratic Party.


2002 – He ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the United States House of Representatives representing Virginia, thus becoming one of very few recent American politicians to seek elective office in more than one state.
