Jogues, Isaac
1607 - Saint Isaac Jogues, born on the 10th of January in Orléans, France. He was a Jesuit missionary who travelled and worked among the Native Americans in North America.
1624 - Entered the Society of Jesus.
1642 - He was sent to New France as a missionary to the Huron and Algonquin allies of the French.
1646 - He was sent back to the Mohawk country along with Jean de Lalande to act as ambassador among them.
- On the 18th of October, he was clubbed to death and beheaded by his Mohawk hosts near Auriesville, New York, along with Goupil and LaLande.
1930 - He was canonized on the 29th of June by Pope Pius XI along with seven other Canadian Martyrs.
