Inge, William Ralph

English author, Anglican prelate.

1860 - Born 6th of June at Crayke, Yorkshire, England.

Educated at Eton College and at King's College, Cambridge.

1888 - He was a tutor at Hertford College, Oxford.

         - Ordained as a deacon.

1907 - Professor of divinity at Jesus College, Cambridge, holding the Lady Margaret's Professor of Divinity chair.

1911 - Chosen by Prime Minister Asquith to be the Dean of St. Paul's Cathedral in London. He retired in 1934.

1920-1921 - President of the Aristotelian Society.

1921-1946 - Columnist for the Evening Standard.

1921-1951 - He was a trustee of London's National Portrait Gallery.

1954 - He spent his later life in Wallingford, where he died 26th of February.

Wrote "Christian Mysticism" 1899, "Outspoken Essays" 1919-1922, "Lay Thoughts of a Dean" 1926.
