Hutchinson, Anne Marbury
1591 - Anne Hutchinson, the daughter of a clergyman, was born in Lincolnshire, England. A Puritan, she emigrated with her husband to America. She was the unauthorized Puritan preacher of a dissident church discussion group and a pioneer settler in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Netherlands.
1612 - At the age of 21, she married William Hutchinson, a prosperous cloth merchant.
1637 - In August, she was condemned by a conference of ministers.
1638 - In March, the First Church in Boston voted to excommunicate her for dissenting from Puritan orthodoxy.
1642 - The death of her husband, she moved to a new settlement in Pelham Bay.
1643 - She and fourteen members of her family were murdered by Native Americans in the area.
