Holbein, Hans

1497 – He was born this year in Augsburg, Bavaria and learned painting from his father Hans Holbein the Elder.

1526 - The Reformation made it difficult for Holbein to support himself as an artist in Basel, and he set out for London in this year.

1527 – He made the Portrait of Sir Thomas Moore this year.

1533 - He also designed many of the extravagant monuments and decorations for the coronation of Henry's second wife, Anne Boleyn, in the summer of this year.

1543 – He died on the 29th day of November this year.
