Hiroyuki Sakai

1942 - Born on April 2, in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. A chef who specializes in French cuisines.

1959 - Studied his craft in Osaka at a restaurant in the Shin Osaka Hotel.

1961 - He traveled to Perth, Australia, to practice his skills at the Hotel Oriental.

1994 - First appeared on television as "Iron Chef Hiroyuki Sakai".

         - Off camera he is the owner and head chef of the restaurant "La Rochelle" originally in Aoyama and now currently in Shibuya.

         - He is also a member of the "Club des Trente" an organization of French chefs in Japan.
