1947 - Helfgott, David was born on the 19th of May in Australia. He is a controversial Australian pianist whose life inspired the Oscar-winning film Shine, directed by Scott Hicks and starring Geoffrey Rush.

1966 - He obtained a place at the Royal College of Music, London.

1969 - He is remembered for his acclaimed performance of Rachmaninov's third piano concerto.

1975 - Leaving institutional care.

1984 - Married Gillian Murray.

1995 - His life-story was dramatized in the film Shine.

1997 - His world tour received a generally cool reception from music critics, but the concerts were given sell-out support and enthusiasm from the public.
