1858 - Chester Greenwood, of Farmington, Maine is the inventor of the earmuff.

1873 - Invented the earmuff, at the age of 15. He reportedly came up with the idea while ice skating, and had his grandmother sew tufts of fur between loops of wire.

1877 - At the age of 19 he acquired a U.S. patent.

1886 - By age 28, Chester Greenwood & Company factory was producing and shipping Champion Ear Protectors worldwide.

1936 - His company had its biggest year producing 400,000 pairs.

1937 - Died this year.
