1714 - Christoph Willibald Gluck, born on the 2nd of July in Erasbach, Bavaria, SC Germany. He was a German composer, one of the most important opera composers of the Classical music era, particularly remembered for Orfeo ed Euridice.
1731 - He taught music at Prague, then studied in Vienna and Milan.
1741 - He began to write operas, and after collaborating with the librettist Raniero de Calzabigi.
1762 -1767 - He produced such works as Orfeo ed Euridice and Alceste.
1770 - Paris was divided into those who supported his French opera style and those supporting the Italian style of Niccolo Piccinni, the Gluckists and Piccinnists.
1779 - He finally conquered with his Iphigénie en Tauride, and retired from Paris full of honour.
1787 - On the 15th of November, in Vienna, he suffered another stroke and died.
