1955 - Born on the 3rd of August in  Exeter, New Hampshire. He received his education in local schools and worked at his father's general store.

1775 - He represented his community in drafting the first state constitution.

1776 - In November, a committee of the state legislature appointed him to serve as adjutant, or administrative officer, of the 3d New Hampshire Regiment.

1786-1788 - New Hampshire delegate to Continental Congress.

1789-1797 - He was  the representative from New Hampshire.

1805-1814 - He became the senator from New Hampshire.

1814 - He died on the 2nd of May at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
