Gao Xingjian is a French (Chinese-born) dramatist and novelist.
1940 - Gao Xingjian was born 4th of January in Ganzhou, Jiangxi, China.
1985 - Wrote play "The Wild Man".
1990 - Wrote the novel "Soul Mountain" and "One Man's Bible".
1992 - Awarded the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government.
1998 - Fled in China and immigrated to France and naturalized French citizen.
2000 - Received the 2000 Nobel Prize in Literature.
2001 - Criticized one of his works. A Chinese columnist called him an "awful writer," and said that the idea of him winning the Nobel Prize was "ludicrous."
