Galtieri, Leopoldo Fortunato

1926 - Born on the 15th of July.

1943 - At the age of 17, he enrolled in the Argentine Military Academy to study Civil Engineering.

1975 - He became the Commander of the Argentine Engineering Corps.

1980 - He became Commander-in-Chief of the Argentinian army.

1981 - On the 22nd of December he became the President of Argentina during the last military dictatorship.

1982 - He invaded the weakly-defended British Falkland Island (an archipelago in the South Atlantic Ocean)

            and he declared the "Malvinas" a province of Argentina.

         - He was ousted as President of Argentina.

1983 - He was arrested and charged in a military court with human rights violations during the Dirty War,

            and with mismanagement of the Falklands war.

2003 - He died of a heart attack at the age of 76.
