1960-1964 - Worked as a Unitarian minister at the Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship in Bellingham, Washington.

 

1986 - He came to fame in the US when his first collection, All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten stayed on the New York Times bestseller lists.

 

1991-1995 - Wrote "It Was on Fire When I Lay Down on It" 1989, "Uh-Oh" 1991, "Maybe (Maybe Not)" 1993, "From Beginning to End: The Rituals of Our Lives" 1995.
