Abagnale, Frank William Jr.

1948 - Born on the 27th of April in New York City, Westchester County.

1962 - He graduated at Iona Preparatoru School.

1969 - He was caught in France when an Air France attendant recognized his face from a wanted poster.

          - He first served prison time in Perpignan's house of Arrest in France; a one-year sentence that was

                reduced down to six months.

          - A judge revoked his United States passport and deported him to the U.S. to prevent further extradition

                and was sentenced to 12 years in a federal prison for multiple counts of forgery.

1971 - He purportedly escaped the Federal Detention Center in Atlanta, Georgia while awaiting trial.

          - He was picked up by two New York City police detectives when he inadvertently walked past their

                unmarked police car.

1974  -  After only serving less than five years, the United State federal government, he was released on

               condition that he would help the federal authorities against fraud and scam artists—without pay.

1977 - He appeared on the TV quiz show "To Tell the Truth" along with two contestants also presenting

                themselves as him.

1990 - He featured as a recurring guest on the UK Channel 4 television series "Secret Cabaret".

2002 - He wrote "The Art of the Steal". In the book, he included a list of common cons and ways to prevent

              consumers from being defrauded.
