1872 – He was born this year in France. He became an important part of the artistic community of Montparnasse.
1897 – From this year until 1924, he produced 30 volumes of poetry, all entitled Ballades françaises.
1905 – He also founded and edited the review Vers et Prose, which published the work of Paul Valéry and other important symbolist writers.
1912 – His accomplishments and influence were such that Paul Verlaine gave him the title "Prince of the Poets."
1956 – He was awarded the Grand Literary Prize of the City of Paris.
1960 – He died in Argenlieu, France, and was buried in the Cimetière de Montlhéry, Region of France.
