1952 - Gianfranco Fini, born on the 3rd of January in Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. He is an Italian politician.
1977 - National Secretary of Fronte della Gioventù ("Youth Front").
1983 - He was first elected as a representative to the Camera dei Deputati (or Chamber of Deputies, the lower house of the Italian Parliament) on the 26th of June with the far-right MSI-DN party.
1992 - 1994 - Praised Benito Mussolini as “the greatest statesman of the twentieth century” and declared that “Fascism has a tradition of honesty, correctness and good government”.
1993 - He ran for the mayorship of Rome but was defeated by Francesco Rutelli.
1995 - In January, at a party conference in the town Fiuggi, not far from Rome, he was officially elected president of the then newly-formed Alleanza Nazionale, a position he has held ever since.
2001 - Became deputy prime minister.
2002 - 2006 - He represented the Italian Government at the European Convention.
