Fahrenheit, Gabriel Daniel

1686 - Born on May 24, in Danzig (now GdaDsk, Poland) was a German physicist and engineer who worked most of his life in the Netherlands.

1714 - Invented the first mercury thermometer.

1717 - Settled in The Hague with the trade of glassblowing, making barometer, altimeter and thermometer.

1718 - And onwards, he gave lectures in chemistry in Amsterdam.

1724 - Became a member of the "Royal Society of London for the Improvement of Natural Knowledge".
