1918 - He joined the guerilla movement against the Japanese interventionists and the White Army during the Russian Civil War.


1927 - He published the novel entitled The Rout which described youthful guerilla fighters during the war.


1945 - He wrote the novel entitled The Young Guard, which was based on real events of World War II.


1946 - He was of the co-founders of the Union of Soviet Writers and was elected Chairman.


1956 - He died on the 13th of May.
