Ertegun, Ahmet Munir

1923 - Born on the 31st of July in Istanbul, Turkey.

1935 - He moved to Washington D.C., United States together with his family.

1944 - He graduated from St. John's College in Annapolis, United States.

1947 - He formed the Atlantic Records together Herb Adramson in New York City, New
           York United States.

1961 - He married to Maria Banu.

1965 - He he discovered the Rascals at the nightclub and signed them to Atlantic Records.

1987 - He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

1991 - He received an honorary doctorate in music from the Berklee College of Music in
           Boston, United States.

1993 - He was awarded the Grammy Trustees Award for his lifetime achievements.

2000 - He was honored as a Living Legend by the United States Library of Congress.

2005 - He was presented with the first "President's Merit Award Salute To Industry Icons
           by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

2006 - He died on the 14th of December.
