1931 - Born on the 27th of October in Egypt.
1955 - She graduated in Cairo University, with the study of medicine, Giza, Egypt.
1957 - 1958 - Began writing early in her career. Her earliest writings include a selection of short stories entitled I Learned Love and the novel Memoirs of a Woman Doctor.
1972 - She published her first work, the "Women and Sex".
1973 - She worked on researching women and neurosis in the Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt.
1979 - 1980 - She was the United Nations Advisor for the Women's Programme in Africa (ECA) and Middle East (ECWA).
1981 - She was put into jail.
1991 - When her life was threatened by Islamists she moved from Egypt to North Carolina, United States.
1996 - She moved back to Egypt.
2004 - She was awarded the North-South Prize by the Council of Europe.
2005 - She ran in Egyptian presidential election.
