1927 – He was born on the 13th of June this year in Kempsey, New South Wales. He has sold more than five million albums and singles in Australia.
1938 – He adopted the stage name "Slim Dusty" in this year at eleven years of age.
1945 - Slim released his first record in this year at the age of nineteen.
1957 – He made a big hit “A Pub With No Beer”, it was the biggest-selling record by an Australian to that time, and the first Australian single to go gold.
1970 – He was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to music.
1971 – He won Best Single at the Australian Country Music Awards at the Tamworth Country Music Festival (Slim's wife Joy McKean won Song of the Year as writer of the song for which he won best single). In all, he won a record 35 "Golden Guitars" over the years.
2000 – He became known overseas for his moving rendition of "Waltzing Matilda" at the end of the Sydney 2000 Olympics Closing Ceremony.
2003 – He died of cancer on the 19th day of September this year.
