1973 - Born on February 4th in East Los Angeles, California. A Mexican-American boxer. After he turned pro, he went on to win five world boxing titles in five different weight classes. Nominated for a Grammy for his single "Ven a Mi".

1981 - De la Hoya was the youngest fighter who won first place in Freewill games.

1992 - Coming up in the amateur boxing circuit in Los Angeles, Oscar won the Olympic gold medal for boxing at the age of 19.

2000 - He released his self titled album, "Oscar de la Hoya", a Latin Pop album with thirteen tracks in both English and Spanish, by EMI International on October 10th.

2001 - Married the Puerto Rican singer, Millie Corretjer on October 5th and they had one child.
