1937 - He shared the Nobel Prize in Physics with George Paget Thomson for the discovery of electron diffraction.
1947 - 1949 - Served as Visiting Professor of Physics, University of Virginia, Charlottesville.
1958 - Died on 1st of February in Charlottesville, Virginia.
