1947 - Born on the 3rd day of February in Muswell Hill, London, England. He is brother of Ray Davies leader of the Kinks and was a singer and guitarist with the English rock band.
1963 - He founded with Pete Quaife the English rock band The Kinks.
1964 - His rock legacy was cemented this year, when he created the buzzing, slam-dunk power chords for his brother's "You Really Got Me" and later this year", "All Day And All Of The Night"

1980 - He had a turbulent relationship with Avory, and is a reason behind latter's departure from the band.
1990 - He has been all but disbanded since early of this year.
1996 - Published an autobiography, entitled Kink, this year, in which he discussed his bisexuality at length, including a sexual relationship with Long John Baldry.
2003 - He was ranked 88th on the list of the "100 greatest guitarists of all time".
2004 - He continued to have a steady musical career as a performer and songwriter until a stroke this year sidelined him.
2006 - He has somewhat recovered. He can walk, talk, and play guitar, but has a hard time singing and playing at the same time, and has not been able to go on tour.
2007 - In January he released his first album of all new material, Fractured Mindz.
