1930 - Justin Whitlock Dart, Jr. was born on the 29th of August.
1948 - Dart contracted polio before entering the University of Houston.
1954 - Earned undergraduate degrees in history and education in University of Houston.
- The university refused to give him a teaching certificate because of his disability.
1967 - Devoted himself to the rights of people with disabilities, working in Texas and Washington, D.C.
1973 - Refused to support President Reagan's efforts to revise the Rehabilitation Act.
1990 - He helped pass the Americans with Disabilities Act.
1993 - He quit his position on the President's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities.
1998 - Dart received the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
2002 - He died on 22nd of June in Washington, D.C. of congestive heart failure related to complications of post-polio syndrome.
Co-founded the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD).
