1922 - Alvin Ralph Dark was born on the 7th of January in Comanche, Oklahoma.

 

1946-1960 - He played for five National League teams.

 

1948 - Named the major leagues' Rookie of the Year with the Boston Braves.

 

1956 - He was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals.

 

1957 - Led the NL in putouts and double plays for the third time.

 

1958 - He was traded to the Chicago Cubs in May.

 

1960 - In January, he was traded with two other players to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for Richie Ashburn

 

1962 - Became the third manager to win pennants with both National and American League teams.

 

1968 - Hired to manage the Cleveland Indians.

 

1975 - He was fired after losing the American League Championship Series.
