1856 - John Cotton Dana was born on the 19th of August in Woodstock, Vermont.
1874 - Studied at Dartmouth College.
1880 - He went to Denver, Colorado where he passed the Colorado bar.
1889-1898 - Became director of the Denver Public Library.
1902-1929 - He was head of the Newark Public Library.
1909 - He founded the Newark Museum.
1929 - He died on 21st of July in New Jersey.
Established foreign language collections for immigrants and developed a special collection for the business community.
