1892 - Dean Cornwell was born. Cornwell established himself as one of America's leading illustrators and a mural painter. He worked for various magazines including Cosmopolitan and Good Housekeeping.

1922 - He was a president of the Society of Illustrators.

1927 - Was a member of the Dutch Treat Club.

1947 - He returned to images of the Near East with illustrations for Lloyd Douglas' two immensely popular novels, The Robe and The Big Fisherman.

1950 - Was a frequenter of "The 21 Club" in New York, for which he provided the painting at left which appears in The Iron Gate of Jack & Charles "21", the Memorial Edition.

1959 - Cornwell was inducted in the Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame.

1960 - Dean Cornwell died.
