1887 - He was born on the 7th day of July this year in Vitsyebsk, Russia (now in Belarus), and was educated in art in Saint Petersburg.
1908 – His first work was “Candles in the Dark” which is an artist collection, and he later developed subtle variations.
1910 – He lived and remained in Paris until 1914.
1911 – Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
1915 – He lived in Saint Petersburg; after the Russian Revolution in 1917.
1918 – He was director of the Art Academy in Vitsyebsk.
1919 – He was the Art Director of the Moscow Jewish State Theater. He painted several murals in the theater lobby and executed the settings for numerous productions.
1922 – He made the print series of “My Life,” Mein Leben in German.
1925 – His works combine recollection with folklore and fantasy. Biblical themes characterize a series of etchings executed between this year until 1939.
1923 – He moved to France, where he spent the rest of his life, except for a period of residence in the United States during 1941-48.
1964 – He completed a canvass which covers the ceiling of the Opéra in Paris.
1966 – He made two large murals that hang in the lobby of the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City.
1973 – The Musée National Message Biblique Marc Chagall (National Museum of the Marc Chagall Biblical Message) was opened in Nice, France.
1985 – He died in St. Paul de Vince, France, on the 28th day of March this year.
