1422 - Born somewhere in the Weald of Kent, perhaps at Tenterden. The first English printer.
1463 - He was acting governor of the company of Merchant Adventurers in the Low Countries.
1474 - His second book, The Game and Playe of Chesse, from the Liber de ludo scacchorum of Jacobus de Cessolis through the French of Jehan de Vignay, was finished.
1476 - Caxton had established himself in the almonry at Westminster at the sign of the Red Pale.
1491 - Died in London, England.
