Caventou, Joseph Bienaime
1795 - Joseph Bienaime Caventou was born in St. Omer, Northern France. French pharmacist and one of the earliest and most successful investigators of alkaloids.
- He became professor at the Ecole de Pharmacie, Paris.
1818-1820 - In collaboration with Pelletier, he discovered strychnine, brucine and, simultaneously with Meissner, veratrine, quinine and, after Gomes, cinchonine.
- He introduced the term chlorophyll.
1823 - They discovered nitrogen.
1877 - Joseph Bienaime Caventou died.
