1907 - Born on September 4th in Trieste, Austro-Hungarian Empire (now Trieste, Italy). One of the most influential art dealers of the twentieth century, Leo Castelli launched the careers of such Pop greats as Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Frank Stella—convincing the world that American art of the 1960s was worthy of international recognition.

1933 - Married to Ileana Schapira.

1941 - Fleeing the war in Europe, Castelli and his wife, Ileana Sonnabend, came to New York from Paris.

1943 - He joined the U.S. Army and was assigned to military intelligence in Europe. For his military service he was granted American citizenship.

1999 - Died on August 22nd in New York, New York.
