Carl XIII
1748 - Born on October 7th in Stockholm. King of Sweden and first king of the union of Sweden and Norway.
1759 - He married his cousin Hedwig Elizabeth Charlotte of Holstein-Gottorp.
1772 - He co-operated in the revolutionary plans of his brother Gustavus III.
1788 - He was created duke of Södermanland by his elder brother, King Gustav III, and later served as admiral of the fleet during the Russo-Swedish War.
1792 - On the death of his brother, he became regent for his nephew, Gustavus IV.
1814 - Charles became the first king of Sweden and Norway.
1818 - Died on February 5th in Stockholm.
