1856 - Born in Rusk, Texas, on the 22nd of April the son of Thomas Duncan and Rachel (Moore) Campbell.
1873 - Attended school at Rusk and entered Trinity University to study law.
1874 - He was unable to support himself and withdrew his studies.
- Worked in the Gregg county clerk's office and continued his studies at night.
1878 - Admitted to the Texas bar and married Fannie Irene Bruner of Shreveport, Louisiana.
1889 - Became involved with the troubled International-Great Northern Railroad.
1891 - He became court-appointed receiver and moved his family to Palestine.
1892 - After lifting the line from bankruptcy, he remained in Palestine as the general manager of the railroad.
1897 - Resigned from the railroad and became active in Democratic Party politics.
1906 - Campbell was elected governor of Texas.
1916 - He ran unsuccessfully for the United States Senate.
1923 - Died in Galveston on 1st of April and was buried in Palestine.
