1845 - Born in London, on the 6th of August the eldest son of George, Marquess of Lorne and the former Lady Elizabeth Sutherland-Leveson-Gower.

1910 - An author of prose and poetry, his writings include Memories of Canada and Scotland, Imperial Federation, Canadian Pictures, Passages from the Past (2 vols.) and Yesterday and To-day in Canada.
