Cain, James Mallahan
1892 - He was born on the 1st of July, into an Irish Catholic family in Annapolis, Maryland.
1917 - He graduated from Washington College.
1944 - He married film actress Aileen Pringle, but the marriage ended in a bitter divorce two years later.
1934 - He wrote "The Postman Always Rings Twice".
1936 - He authored "Double Indemnity" and was filmed by Billy Wilder.
1952 - He wrote "The Root of His Evil".
1977 - He died an alcoholic, aged 85, on the 27th of October.
