Cabell attended Texas A&M University and Southern Methodist University.
1961 - He was elected mayor to succeed Robert L. Thornton.
- Served as mayor of Dallas, Texas, during the assassination of John F. Kennedy
1964 - On 3rd of February, he resigned as mayor of Dallas in order to run for Congress.
1972 - Served four terms in the House before the Republican Alan Steelman defeated him.
1975 - Earle Cabell died on 24th of September.
The Earle Cabell Federal Building on Commerce Street in Dallas is named in his honor.
