         - He held the office of Plenipotentiary to the Princes and States of Italy.

         - He fought in the Battle of Cape Pesaro on July 31st, where he defeated the Spanish fleet.

1720 - He held the office of Rear-Admiral of Great Britain.

         - He held the office of Treasurer of the Navy.

1721 - He was invested as a Privy Counselor (P.C.) on January 3rd.

         - He was created 1st Viscount Torrington, co. Devon on September 21st.

         - He was created 1st Baron Byng of Southhill, co. Bedford on September 21st.

1733 - Died on January 17th at the age of 88.
