1931 - Bunning was born in Southgate, Kentucky on the 23rd of October.

1949 - He graduated from St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati and later received a bachelor's degree in economics from Xavier University.

1955 - Jim Bunning's first game as a major league pitcher was on the 20th of July.

         - He was a pitched perfect game playing for Philadelphia Phillies against New York (1st perfect game by a National League pitcher).

         - On the 6th of December, Bunning was one of only two senators (along with Rick Santorum), to vote against the confirmation of Robert Gates as Secretary of Defense.
