1763 - Charles Bulfinch was born on August 8th in Boston, Massachusetts. Architect of the United States capitol.

1781 - He was educated at the Boston Latin school and at Harvard, where he graduated.

1787 - Settled in Boston, where he was the first to practice as a professional architect.

1788 - Married to Hannah Apthrorp.

1797 - As chairman of the board of selectmen for twenty-one years, an important position which made him practically chief magistrate, he exerted a strong influence in modernizing Boston, in providing for new systems of drainage and street-lighting, in reorganizing the police and fire departments, and in straightening and widening the streets.

1799 - Elected as the mayor of Boston.

         - He designed Boston State House.

1818 - Bulfinch succeeded Latrobe as the architect for the United States capitol, which had been burned by the British.

1820 - He designed Massachusetts General Hospital.

1844 - Died on April 15th in Boston, Massachusetts.
