Bueno, Maria Ester Audion
1939 - Born on October 11th in São Paulo, Brazil. Brazilian amateur tennis player.
1945 - Bueno began playing tennis at about the age of six.
1951 - Won her first tournament at São Paulo at the age of 12.
1954 - Won the women's tennis championship of Brazil at 15.
1958-1968 - Won 17 Wimbledon and United States (Forest Hills, New York, and Brookline, Massachusetts) championships.
- She won the women's doubles championship, with Althea Gibson, at Wimbledon.
1969 - Ill health brought her retirement from top-class tennis at the relatively early age of 29.
1975-1976 - After a long retirement, she felt sufficiently well to try the pro tour, and returned to Wimbledon for a spiritual triumph after a hiatus of seven years.
1978 - She was inducted in the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
